Welcome to the configuration guide for integrating Meraki with Hector. At the end of this guide, you will be able to automatically synchronize your Meraki devices into Hector as assets.
1. Login to your Hector account
You must be an administrator to activate Meraki integration.
2. Integrations
Navigate to Settings, in the Integrations section you can find Meraki integration in the Inventory tab.

Once in the integration settings, you have two fields to complete :

For the Api Url, please refer to the Base URI part in the Getting Started chapter of Meraki Api documentation. If you have a doubt on which one to use, try the base URI (https://api.meraki.com/api/v1) by clicking on Validate, an error message will appear indicating what is wrong.
The Api Key is linked to a user and can be found in My profile, under API access part.

Or under Organization/API & Webhooks, in the API keys and access tab.

Please note that an API key is linked to a user, so the user in question must have all the permissions needed to access the networks and devices you want to be imported in Hector.
Moreover, if you revoke the key used in Hector, you must update it to a new one if you want the integration to continue working.
3. Options
Once you have entered the Api key and the url, click on Validate, if everything is good, you will be redirected in another tab where you will be able to select what options you want.
Initial destination
This part corresponds to the default Stockroom and Category your assets will be directed to.

Synchronization
Here you can change the way the assets will be synchronized in Hector :
- Synchronize categories : new categories will be created following Meraki’s product types or the system type if its a device contained in a systems manager.
- Synchronize location : allows you to automatically assign the asset to a stockroom following the data inside the attribute chose in Assign by Org Unit. For a more detailed explanation, see the Example for Stockroom synchronization.
- Product Types : choose the product types you want to import, systems manager devices import all devices contained in a systems manager and for the others, it imports the corresponding devices from Meraki.

Fields
In the attribute selector you can choose the additional fields imported in Hector as attributes. Note that the attributes will be automatically created if it is your first time using this attribute in an integration (all integrations use the same attributes), and its name will be set following your instance language not your user language preference.

Serial Number and Wifi Mac Address are our synchronization keys so they cannot be unchecked.
How the Integration Works
What to expect when syncing
Once synchronization is enabled, Hector will start syncing with Meraki based on your integration settings once per day around 8 pm.
Field Mapping
When a Meraki device is created in Hector, the following fields are populated:
| Meraki Field | Hector Field | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Stockroom | Matches a network with a stockroom only if the option Synchronize Location is checked. Else, the asset is put in the default stockroom. |
| Type | Category | Matches a type with a category only if the option Synchronize category is checked.Else, the asset is put in the default category. |
| Model | Part | |
| Created Date | Created Date | |
| Name | Title |
Other fields will be populated following the attributes you chose in the Fields tab.
Example for Stockroom synchronization
In Synchronization, you can select the meraki link attribute to serve as a link between networks and stockrooms.

In Meraki, copy your network name, here, Hector.

In Hector, go to the stockroom you want to link with the Hector network and paste the network name in the linking attribute called meraki link.

Now, your devices from the Hector network will synchronize into the Hector stockroom. If there is an error in the network name put in the attribute, the device will be put in the default stockroom selected in the previous steps.
That completes the Meraki integration guide. If you have any questions, or would like support integrating in your environment, please reach out to our sales team for more information.
