The Lansweeper integration lets you automatically import devices of any type — workstations, servers, network gear, mobile devices and more — from your Lansweeper environment directly into Hector. Once configured, Hector connects to the Lansweeper Cloud API on a schedule and creates or updates assets to match what Lansweeper has discovered. This guide walks you through generating your API token in Lansweeper and configuring the integration in Hector.
Before you begin
- A Lansweeper Cloud (Sites) account with at least one site that has scanned assets.
- Permission to create a Personal Application in your Lansweeper account (Developer tools).
- Administrator access to Settings > Integrations in Hector.
Step 1 — Generate a Lansweeper API token
- Sign in to your Lansweeper account at app.lansweeper.com.
- Open the account menu in the top-right corner and go to Developer tools.
- Select Personal applications and click Add personal application.
- Give the application a name (for example, Hector Integration) and create it.
- Copy the generated token (also called the Identity Code) and keep it somewhere safe — you will paste it into Hector in Step 3. For security, Lansweeper only shows the full token once.
Step 2 — Authorize your site(s)
When you create the personal application, Lansweeper asks which site(s) it may access. Make sure every site whose assets you want in Hector is authorized. Hector automatically discovers all authorized sites for your token and imports assets from each of them — there is nothing to enter manually.
Step 3 — Configure the integration in Hector
- In Hector, go to Settings > Integrations and open Lansweeper.
- Toggle Enabled on.
- On the Authentication tab, leave the API URL at its default value (
https://api.lansweeper.com/api/v2/graphql) for Lansweeper Cloud, then paste your token into the Token field. - Click Validate. Hector confirms the token and that at least one site is authorized.
- On the Configuration > Options tab, choose the destination Stockroom and the default Category for imported assets.
- On the Synchronization tab, optionally enable Sync category to automatically create a category per Lansweeper asset type (Windows, Linux, Monitor, Router, etc.).
- On the Fields tab, use the Attribute selector to choose which fields are imported onto your assets.
- Click Save.
Synchronized fields
| Hector attribute | Lansweeper source |
|---|---|
| Device Name | Asset name |
| Serial Number | Serial number |
| Operating System | OS caption |
| Operating System Version | OS version |
| Firmware Version | Firmware version |
| Ethernet MAC Address | MAC address |
| IP Address | IP address |
| Network Name | FQDN |
| Username | Last logged-on user |
| Domain | Domain |
| Maker | Manufacturer |
| Device Type | Asset type |
| Model | Model |
| Comment | Description |
How the synchronization works
- The synchronization runs automatically once per day. You can also trigger it manually from the integration page.
- Assets are matched on their Lansweeper identity, so a device that changes name or serial is updated rather than duplicated.
- New Lansweeper assets are created in the stockroom and category you selected; existing matching assets are updated in place.
- Only the fields you selected in the Attribute selector are written — any field left unselected is never modified by the integration.
Troubleshooting
- Validation fails / “No authorized sites”: confirm the token is correct and that your personal application has been granted access to at least one site in Lansweeper.
- Token rejected: regenerate the personal application token in Lansweeper and paste the new value, as tokens can be revoked or expire.
- Some devices are missing: make sure those assets have been scanned and appear in an authorized Lansweeper site; assets in non-authorized sites are not imported.
- Assets land in the wrong category: review the default Category on the Options tab, or enable Sync category to mirror Lansweeper’s asset types.
